We're often asked "what pages should we have on our website"?

This is a tricky question to answer because every council is different but from our experience the basic pages would be as follows:

  • Homepage which carries a brief welcome message, possibly a news section and as an optional extra, our new facility "Last Page Updated"
  • An About Page which talks about the Council, what it does and its aims for the future
  • A Councillors page with their contact details together with any specific responsibilities
  • A Contact Form page where people can send messages to the Clerk and/or Councillors
  • A Meetings Page which lays out all the meetings for the year with links to agendas and minutes
  • A Services Page which outlines the councils responsibilities including allotments, village halls, burial grounds, playgrounds, open spaces etc.
  • A Planning Page (if your council deals with a lot of applications) OR an Amenities Pages which carries information about local facilities and services which are outside the direct control of the council.
  • If you hover your mouse of the big menu above at the top of the page you'll find suggestions for pages based upon what we've been asked to provide in the past.
