Domain Name Registration
Every website needs a unique name so that it can be found on the internet.
If you're taking a CMS from us, or a hand-coded site, we will register your chosen domain name for you, however, if you wish to check the availability of your chosen name, you can do a search on our "Who Is"
The most appropriate extension for a parish council, being a non-political body, is ".org.uk". Town Councils will probably register a ".gov.uk" domain.
The domain name registration and renewal fee (£7.99 per year) is included within the annual cost of your WBCMS website. If you do decide that you want to have a ".gov.uk" extension you will need to make the arrangements yourself and then have the domain name pointed to our nameservers and we can help you with this. Further information about registering a ".gov.uk" domain is available here. A ".gov.uk" domain name registration fee is £100.00 per year but we've heard of some companies charging as much as £250.00 per year.
When considering your domain name try to keep it short, avoid "-" and abbreviations like "pc" because search engines don't understand them. |
